Urban Terror: Weapon Progression

Posted by: lolfang In: Games

In this document I wanted to describe what I feel about how the weapons progression should be, or how one naturally changes from one to another.

First, you have to know the four variables that make this list possible. I wanted to make this as simple as possible.

  • Weapon Mode: Automatic or Burst (Semi-Automatic is out of the question*)
  • Power/Punch: High or Low (as I said, I wanted to make this simple)
  • Precision: High or Low
  • Rate of fire: Fast or Slow

Beginner’s Choice: G36C | M4A1

A beginner will mostly test out every weapon, but might settle with one of these for a while. Everyone agrees that the G36 sucks. It probably packs a similar punch as the Beretta, but has two nice features: zoom, a must-need for new FPS players, and slow rate of fire. Why slow is good? Because combined with burst mode, it will make your jumpy aim hit a little more than the others. The M4A1 mention is only because some people will think that this is similar to Counter Strike.

Mid-tier’s Choice: AK-103

An all rounder here. Using automatic mode is preferred, but you might get good results with the burst mode. This is the most powerful rifle, so use it. But there is a catch: You must aim for the neck, or the upper chest, or the body, because the AK-103 has the most horrible recoil of all weapons and a slow rate of fire. That’s why this one is a mid choice.

Winners’s Choice: LR300ML | M4A1

Not very useful if you don’t have a good aim, but in the moment you have it, you must go for this one. Very high precision, high punch, very fast rate of fire, this one has it all.

I don’t like it, but some say that the M4A1 is quite similar to the 300. I say that it has a slower rate of fire, that’s why this one isn’t that great.

Pro’s Choice: SR-8

You need everything for this one. Binds, aim, luck, map knowledge and strategies. I personally hate this kind of weapons, but they say it’s really the best. The ultra slow rate of fire makes me really nervous, besides.

Mayhem’s Choice: NEGEV

The moment you’ve got aim, have some fun playing some matches with the NEGEV. Blood everywhere. Aim for the body, the center of the chest, and arms. It feels good getting a headshot from this one, too.

So, what you think about all this? Let me say again, this is what I feel, not what everyone should use.

* Semi-automatic mode is one useful if you use one of those 3X mice. I think that’s pretty cheap, it’s not your ability.

Thanks for your useful comment. Would you care to explain why?
