Well, Zeno Clash… this… strange piece of software is made by ACE Team (Chile-based developers!), made quite the talk, and it should, because of its artwork, game play and last but not least, the story of the game.
The Good
Zeno Clash is, mainly, a beat ‘em up game in first person, with a deep history and a quite strange but swiftly done game play.
So, let me enumerate the good points of this game: First we have the graphics/art of the game. They are… rounded =P but extremely well done and quite peculiar. They mix humans with animals and metallic/primitive objects. Well, you have to see it for yourself. That’s one. Then we have the story and the characters. Every character in the game has it’s own personality and fight style. I love the story, it’s about how the main character, Ghat, is being persecuted by his brothers and sisters because he killed Father-Mother. Yes, it’s a father and a mother in the same… body. That’s how bizarre this game is. And last, the fighting game play. While it’s somewhat bothersome having to “focus” on a person for melee attacks, it’s also interesting how this is implemented. Ah, the weapons are very original, except the rifle.
The Bad
The length! It’s a short game. Also, the repetition of some characters throughout the game. Didn’t like the linearity of the game, but that’s just me.
And… the blood splatter it’s ugly.
Overall
This game is really, really good. Get it from Steam and give it a try, because it’s worth your time. I’m actually waiting for the next version… good one, ACE Team.
