You know, I was using Gom Player since a long time, mostly for it’s Control Panel with subtitles timing and stuff. But its horrid MKV support, even after lots of users reported them that it sucked, was never fixed. So I uninstalled it. Then I downloaded The KMPlayer. Nice! Displayed MKV files correctly, but now the subtitles do not have styles.

Why I don’t like MPC: Home Cinema? Playlist. Guess what. Sucks. And VLC is out of the question, useful for displaying Real Media files, but still… sucks.

So I went back to Zoom Player. Haven’t used it since… two years ago. Now it’s on version 6.0 and most awesome as ever. But I cannot enable DXVA.

So my current setup is the following:

Main (Anime): Zoom Player + CCCP

AVI+SRT (Movies, occidental series): The KMPlayer

Not that it cares, but currently there is no perfect player for everything. Zoom Player should support subtitle timings and DXVA…

Edit!

Well, I could make Zoom Player support DXVA thanks to an MPC decoder, but when I use DXVA, no subtitles are shown… über fail from the InMatrix staff.

And I could make Zoom Player to work fine in my PC, just had to raise the CPU usage to High, no problems.

Been using Google Chrome lately? So, if you don’t know let me talk a bit about SRWare Iron, a project also based on Chromium.

Google Chrome is a fork based on Chromium code base. Chrome is made by Google.

Iron is made by SRWare, and removes all this “features” of Chrome:

A unique ID through which a user can be identified.

A Timestamp of when the browser was installed.

Address bar search suggestion.

Google hosted error pages when a server isn’t found.

Bug tracking system, sends information about crashes or errors.

RLZ identifier, an encoded string.

Google Updater automatic installation.

DNS Pre-fetching.

As you see, Google fetches all these data from you. I recommend using Iron, and even more, using Iron portable version. If you even need more privacy, use it’s Incognito mode activated by default by making a .bat file that contains the following.

ironportable.exe -incognito

Congratulations, Opera Software.

You know, it’s been a long time since I’ve been using Opera Browser. And I still can’t replace it. Sure, it’s a little behind the times, since WebKit is way faster in JS and stuff. But the features are extremely needed for me…

Notes, Opera Link! Opera Link saved me a while back :D – Mouse Gestures, Menu and Toolbar customizations, skins, security, Speed Dial, Zooming, Feeds, Sessions and even more stuff like bits of customizations here and there with User JS… MHTML save feature… and more.

It took me a while to configure the browser just like I’m using it now, but I love it.

Happy Birthday, Opera. I hope Opera 10 becomes way faster than Opera 9. Good luck!

This will be my first article on a (I hope) very long series of articles related to something that I decided to call it simply like “BadWare” – you might know that there is an organization that deals with this too but only on internet levels, go to www.stopbadware.org. I also though about calling it “SuckWare” or “UglyWare”, but I wanted to keep it simple.

Why? Because everyone can do positive reviews, and ultimately, they won’t change the opinion of the user. Say, how many positive reviews of Firefox had you saw? And how many negative? No, I won’t do a negative review of Firefox because now it’s good enough – the portable editions, at least.

What I want, is that software developers notice the flaws on their design. Maybe that will help them to fix some behaviours.

And I also wanted to ventilate my anger on something, and on this field, there’s plenty to D:

I think this is enough for now. Let’s see what I’ll begin with… Oh, yes, my old friend… clrMAME Pro.

Well, a little review.

I expected something like the previous beta, but I was surprised. It wasn’t that bad. First, I really like the Landscape Mode (in this mode, you have to tilt your phone for browsing). They also fixed the font problem from the previous beta, now more text is included in the screen.
Drawbacks? It’s quite slower than Opera Mini 3. It’s almost unusable on my phone (Motorola V191). I frankly don’t like that… Only the “fit-to-width” mode is usable.

Anyways, I’ll wait for the final version. In the meanwhile, I’ll keep using Opera Mini 3.1.
